Dan Larson brought his PC board
making equipment. This is a positive
photo-resist process from Injectorall, Inc.

The precoated PC boards are available
through DigiKey.

Dan made this motion control board for
his FRED robot using a laser
transparency and Injectorall positive
photo resist. The schematic entry & PCB
layout were done with Eagle 4.03.

A 'bug' that Brianna Larson
made from a Radio Shack kit.

The bug attacking the camera
with it's chompers going.

Dan Larson brought this X10
camera and LCD TV.
0107_06.jpg
You can see that it works
pretty good.

Kris Schneider was selling
these embedded laptop things.
0107_08.jpg
Brynn Rogers was giving
away a big box of PC type
motherboards.
0107_09.jpg
Some of the people. (I can
never get everyone in the
same shot)
0107_10.jpg
Rand Whillock gave a slide
show presentation of his trip
to Robot Wars in London.

People watching Rand's
presentation.
0107_12.jpg
Rand brought two models of
the 'House Robots' from Robot
Wars.

After the meeting a group of us got a personal tour from Bruce Shapiro.

Bruce creates high tech gadgets and artwork. He has various creations at the Science Museum.
Everything below is his except for the lawnmower. (Maybe that belongs to him also?)

(Turns out he did the big "tubes" display in the main lobby also.)

0107_13.jpg
The sand sculpture.
0107_14.jpg
Another view of the sand
dunes.
0107_15.jpg
The sand sculpture has a
rotary table and a linear
actuator.
0107_16.jpg
The sand sculpture uses a
magnet to drag a steel ball
through the sand on top of
the canvas sheet.
0107_17.jpg
There were two robot lawn
mowers in the class room.
These were about twice the
size of the I-Mow lawnmowers.
0107_18.jpg
A 3-axis mill that Bruce uses.
0107_19.jpg
Two relief sculptures. These
were actaully done on a
bigger mill.
0107_20.jpg
A collection of stepper
motors and drivers.
0107_21.jpg
This looks like a rotary
plotter or cutter.
0107_23.jpg
Some kind of mad scientist
hat. (These have probably
been outlawed in most of the
civilized world.)
0107_25.jpg
A collection of Bruce's
artwork.
0107_22.jpg
This was some kind of
automated dispenser for
sediment experiments.
0107_24.jpg
Patterns cut into a round
tube.
0107_26.jpg
And in case you wonder where
all this took place, we were
right here.
